Heliod, Sun-Crowned

Heliod, Sun-Crowned is the mightiest of the Theros gods and Heliod is the god of the Sun. Heliod combines +1/+1 counter decks with lifegain, two massively popular and well synergizing themes together.

Part of Heliods popularity is explained with the sheer power level: Heliod combos with Walking Ballista and Triskelion allowing the player to ping every opponent to death in instant speed. Combined with whites tutors the Heliod-Ballista decks can be very powerful indeed, and even compete on cEDH level.
